365 days in 365 seconds — 1 year in 1 video
this was my year 2009.
Every second is one day.
here I recorded my ordinary life — every day makes one second in this video.
what happened most: sitting in lectures (as a student in graphic design) or driving cars (working as a delivery driver for a print shop and a bakery).
other seconds show dates with friends, capturing the weather or me doing all the different activities (tiny and big) I came around over the past year.

technical stuff and making of
I recorded with a compact camera that had to fit into my pocket (a Casio Exilim EX-Z300) wich I bought on the last day of 2008.
The camera captures videos in small HD and has a dedicated record button wich makes it easy to quickly record something.
1417 videos created during 2009
43 GB of raw data produced
nearly 14 hours of video (50282 seconds)
wich means only 0,7% made it into the video
Design Research Maps (via behance)
i absolutely adore these graphs with transparent bezier bars. today, I ordered this (expensive) book on programming such graphs using Processing. In the future, when there is suitable data available, I’ll make a graph myself, yes!
and, to conclude my video projects here, our final class movie “Enter the Mensa”, a Matrix-Copy, filmed with hand cameras and a big team of writers and also made with Thomas in the “cutting room” (our homes… thanks, parents! ;-)
it’s looks absolutely amateur, but it was great fun for us and it is a great rememberence of our a-levels-time.
The intro was made using Cinema4D (camera flight over map and the threedimensional matrix code, including the flight through the matrix-logo [I remember the rendering for the code-strings took several days!].
The map in the beginning was hand-picked, because there was no google earth in 2004! The music while flying over the map is not from matrix… its from Pirates of the Caribbean…
AfterEffects for several effects inside the movie and Adobe Premiere for cutting the material.
while skimming through the archives I discovered this final project for my a-levels I did 5 years ago.
only the first and the last 2 minutes are graphically interesting, between that, I did some interviews with people from my school (in german) with crappy keying out the background.
I like the music synchrony and the 3D-typo at the beginning, wich was hard work for me. (Music from Akufen)
In the end, I even tried to copy the Eple Music Video from Røyksopp with a crappy 1:1 copy.
5 years ago this was the highest level of performing for me.
