not many people know what goes into making a font. i sure don’t. it takes a very special and rare breed of exceptionally obsessive designer to even attempt this daunting task. in honor of this brave feat, andy and i made a special pilgrimage to a place of great significance.

just to give you some background information: when a font is created, every single letter is paired with every single other letter to ensure that subtleties of spacing and letterform design are at peak performance. in order to do this, every single possible combination of letter pairs are proofed within a word. the difficult part is that they must appear in the <i>middle</i> of the word. and no designer in his right mind would use fake words. no, the planet has been scoured from top to bottom in search of a list of words that contain every single possible permutation of alphabetical combinations within them.
